What’s in the box?

Your Looking Glass Portrait arrives in a box with the display (and stand), an HDMI cable, a USB-C cable, a power adapter, a microfibre cloth, and a set of instructions to guide you through the setup process. The device also ships pre-loaded with a few dozen pre-loaded demos.

Who is this for?

The Looking Glass Portrait is an ideal product and desk companion to anyone who is familiar with 3D art, development, animation and creation. Whether you’re just starting out your 3D creation journey or a 3D creator with years of experience, this is the product for you. We have a suite of software tools and plugins (Blender, Unity, Unreal, WebXR) that will guide you through creating your very first holograms.

What computer will I need to run it?

We recommend a Windows PC with a dedicated graphics card for full use of our software suite. We do have software that supports MacOS including Looking Glass Bridge, Studio* and our WebXR, Unity* and Blender plugins.

Can it display static 3D images as well as animated 3D sequences?

Yes! It can display 3D images and animations all running in real-time at up to 60fps. Interactivity is limited to desktop mode but you can sync both still and video 3D holographic content to standalone mode.

Can I run it standalone without it connected to a computer?

Yes! Looking Glass Portrait ships with an embedded Raspberry Pi4 that allows it to playback hours of looped holographic content on your desk, shelf or even your wall.

Does it come with a battery?

No. It doesn’t ship with an included battery but you can power them with 5V 3.0A battery packs that delivers power using a USB-C port.

How long will it take to ship?

Once ordered, the device will ship out in 2-3 days business days.

Is it Wi-Fi enabled?

No, the Looking Glass Portrait does not have WiFI enabled.

Are there built-in speakers?

No. It does have an AUX audio jack to plug in your favorite speakers!

Does it come pre-loaded with demo content?

Yes! Looking Glass Portrait ships with a few dozen pieces of exemplary demo content made by our creators with our software plugins. Just connect the device up to power, boot it up and see a loop of incredible content right out of the box.

What is the display made of?

The display consists of an advanced high precision lens and microlouvre array. It has an integrated Raspberry Pi 4 to support standalone functionality. The Portrait is very rugged and is made of aluminum, ABS, a specific lens mix, glass and steel.

  • Looking Glass Bridge works with PC and Mac.
  • To import, edit, process and convert depth photos, videos, and other holographic media,
    almost all PCs and Macs with HDMI and USB-C will work.
  • To run and create heavier-duty interactive applications with Unity or Unreal, we recommend
    a PC with a GTX 1650 or equivalent, CPU with Intel i5 or higher, and at least 8GB of RAM.
